We tried the oat milk powder from Overherd and wrote an article about it almost two years ago. You can read our previous article here for a recap or as a guide for newcomers to Overherd. Since then, they have released several new products, which they have sent over for us to review, and that's what we’re going to do today!
As a reminder, let me tell you why we recommended Overherd oat milk powder last time.
- Tastes good and we can carry it with us anywhere.
- Trying to make their product as environmentally friendly as possible.
This time, we received four items. A packet of Overherd’s oat milk powder (with the same tasty recipe), a new shaker bottle, a travel tin and a cap!
New Overherd oat milk glass bottle

Our first impression of this bottle is similar to that of a protein shaker. Let's examine the differences between this and the previous one.
According to Overherd’s website, the new features are:
- Carton-style pouring spout for smooth, drip-free pours.
- Extra-wide rim for easy scooping and cleaning.
- ML markings for simple measuring (200ml = 1 scoop).
- Made from stronger recycled glass.
- Sleek matte black & BPA free lid.
The first two are new features, and the last two are essentially the same as the previous ones. The new features are actually better than the previous ones! Well done and thank you, Overherd! Let me show you how better it is.
Dripping free pours thanks to the pouring spout

Indeed, it’s drip-free! It’s easier to pour, and there's no need to wipe it off afterwards.
The extra-wide rim is more helpful for putting the powder with the scoop

With the previous glass bottle, I had to aim carefully to put the powder so as not to make a mess around the rim. But with the new one, it's a lot wider, so I would say it’s less stressful. I will mention cleaning the bottle later, but it’s easier for me to wash it by hand because I can put my hand in it. Even though I can’t, I can still use my bottle brush to clean thoroughly, all thanks to the wide rim.
It’s stronger, but doesn’t play well with hot water

One thing to be cautious of is that the glass bottle isn’t heat-resistant, so it’s not suitable for hot or boiling water. It’s easy to wash thanks to the extra-wide rim, so Overherd suggests washing it by hand with warm, soapy water to extend the bottle's life. It’s still dishwasher safe, but only at the lower temperature setting.
Travel tin

Take a look at this pastel pink round tin. Isn't it pretty? This is another new product from Overherd to carry their oat milk powder. It might be too small for a 10-day hiking trip, but it was perfect for our 4-day travel to the North of France this year to attend the Braderie de Lille. We could enjoy our coffee or tea without needing to buy milk at the Airbnb where we stayed.
The travel tin can carry up to 100g of oat milk powder and has a screwed top, so there's no need to worry about the powder going everywhere in your bag or getting wet. We mentioned travel, but this would also be perfect for carrying oat milk powder with us on a day or two's hiking trip. We can also add cocoa powder and sugar to make hot chocolate. Hmmmm
You can carry and enjoy your cuppa with milk anywhere
We are not allergic or intolerant to dairy or any other milk, but I just remembered that when I visited my friend’s place, she served tea and asked if I didn’t mind having oat milk because that was the only milk option they had. Then I thought it must be a little bit tough for someone who can’t consume cow milk. It’s basically the opposite of what I experienced, right? It must be a shame for someone allergic or intolerant to dairy and who can’t enjoy tea with milk. But if you can carry some oat milk like this, you can tell them that you brought oat milk! Isn’t it kinda cool?
It was great that we brought the oat milk powder with us to France, when we had breakfast at my brother-in-law’s place, who doesn’t drink oat milk in general. In the end, we all enjoyed our coffee with oat milk powder.
Overherd oat milk cap

This is not a new item, but I have been wanting to try it. The 100% cotton navy corduroy fabric and the pastel pink oatmilk pattern, embroidered in the UK, are so pretty! This cap is perfect for a short hike on a sunny day, so I wear it when I go out for a daily walk with my dog, as well. Oh, one last thing, it is adjustable, so I can even share it with my husband!
